Kiambu governor William Kabogo announced that he will defend his seat as an independent candidate after he was trounced by Kabete MP Ferdinand Waititu in the Jubilee gubernatorial primaries.
The flashy governor indirectly accused DP William Ruto of masterminding his downfall against Baba Yao. He even recently termed Ruto as a special friend during a radio interview. His comeback spells doom for DP Ruto because the namesakes have a thing in common; 2022 presidential ambitions.
DP Ruto being the smart politician that he has proven to be probably knows the post August political scenario in Jubilee. Kabogo even helped him understand how President Uhuru will hand over power for the 2022 scrumble for presidency.
This is a topic that Jubilee will avoid at all cost because it unmasks the face that they do not want to look at now. Kabogo is the reason Ruto will hate the ‘Mount Kenya Mafia’ passionately and with all his possessions.
William Kabogo courts attention at all cost and the comeback is purely for political relevance. He is a conspicuous leader who could not stomach being overshadowed by Waititu.
He commands monetary power wherever he is and instills fear in opponents verbally, physically and psychologically. His appearance says a lot. Kiambu’s boss is generous and is honest when necessary. He gifts at the most opportune time like after he made sentiments that demeaned women.
Ruto’s nightmare is unpredictable somethimg that makes him a tricky opponent. The way he handled his defeat to Waititu did not give a clear picture of his next move. He gave his opponents something to think about and now he has surprised them. Will Mt. Kenya support Ruto after Kabogo’s comeback?
