Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is also NASA leader Raila Odinga’s deputy jetted back into the country form Germany on Wednesday where he has been for close to three months.
The former Vice President (VP) left the county on October 11 moments after Raila Odinga withdrew from the October 26 repeat presidential election.
The Wiper leader had traveled to Germany to attend to his ailing wife Pauline Musyoka who was receiving specialized treatment.
However, Kalonzo’s return on Wednesday morning did not attract much attention and media publicity as the case has been when top NASA politicians jet back in the country from oversees.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Kalonzo’s return did not receive attention because of the fact that the former VP was handling his ailing wife and couldn’t want attention on a family matter.
“I think Kalonzo didn’t want much attention and publicity on his return in respect for his wife who has been receiving treatment in Germany,” he said.
Ngure adds that Kalonzo might have decided to return silently to avoid creating political anxiety and attention from supporters.
He said that the former VP is a diplomat and knows how to play his tactics.
Opposition leaders often receive heroic welcome from supporters when they return from oversees.
In November Raila received heroic return from his short trip in the United States.
Raila’s return however turned violent as police battle with supporters who had thronged along the Mombasa highway to welcome the opposition chief.
The police battles with Raila’s supporters led to several deaths and destruction of property.
Kalonzo’s return has been interpreted as a big boost for Raila who insists that he will be sworn-in despite a warning from the government.
