That Kalonzo Musyoka’s name is still in the list of presidential candidates despite Nasa unveiling its line-up is baffling.
The Wiper party leader confirmed on Sunday that there was no error in the IEBC’s list.
He said his name was put in the roll after he was endorsed during Wiper’s National Delegates’ Conference on December 13, 2016.
In the same list by the electoral commission, Raila Odinga is a presidential candidate, with no running mate.
Raila was on April 27 unveiled as the National Super Alliance (Nasa) flag bearer and Kalonzo his running mate.
But why has Kalonzo not withdrawn his name from the list of presidential candidates?
Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi argues that there is suspicion in Nasa. Ngunyi says that everyone in Nasa, including Kalonzo, is having a plan B.
In his weekly YouTube channel, the analyst says that if Kalonzo submitted his nomination papers after the Nasa flag bearer unveiling, then the opposition coalition is in trouble.
“We must ask a few questions about this, why has Kalonzo not withdrawn his presidential bid after endorsing Raila? What is he waiting for? Why has Raila not nominated Kalonzo his running mate? What is he waiting for? In my view, there must be suspicion in Nasa. There is doubt that Raila will win, that is why Kalonzo and others are having plan B,” Ngunyi says.
Raila, while addressing the press on Sunday, said they will submit their nomination papers to the IEBC on May 28.
