Many people are wondering why Kalonzo seems hesistant to support the formation of the alliance. A few weeks ago, Kalonzo made it clear chosing Amani National Alliance (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi as the presidential candidate over him and other coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) co-principals will amount to betrayal.

If NASA is formed, we cannot rule out the possibility that Mudavadi will turn out as the favorite candidate for the seat. As we speak, Kalonzo has two leaders to battle it out for the ticket.

Formation of NASA will introduce more political competitors on his side. There are possibilities of other leaders from different parts of the nation joining the movement and fight for the presidential ticket. Even if Kalonzo agrees to support another candidate, he stands to lose more because he is also likely to be denied an opportunity of being the second in command.

The Ukambani political kingpin has enough reasons to tell the press that he has only read about NASA in the papers. Hate him or love him, Kalonzo is doing what he does best.
