Wiper Party is on ‘fire’.  The massive walk out from the political outfit clearly shows that all is not well. The recent move of Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja, who joined Jubilee, has left Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo with only one governor Kivutha Kibwana of Kibwana of Makueni.

Had Kivutha not defected to Wiper from Muungano Party, Kalonzo would not be having a single governor.  Musyoka’s fight to ensure former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga becomes the head of state has left him in an awkward position.

Former Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan also resigned the party leaving behind a dark cloud that will haunt Kalonzo for years. The recent withdrawal of Raila from the October is also likely to dent Kalonzo hope of rising to power depending on the decision of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission. According to Raila, the opposition had no reason to take part in the election after their demands were not met by the IEBC.

“After deliberating on our position in respect of the upcoming election, considering the interests of the Kenyan people, the region and the world at large, we believe that all will be best served by NASA vacating its presidential candidature in the election scheduled for 26 October,” Raila announced, as quoted by Star.
