Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has poked holes into the recent national budget presented by Treasury CS Henry Rotich.
According to Kalonzo, the budget is a burden to the common citizen.Kalonzo was perplexed by the unsustainable rise in the national debt which hit sh5 trillion, that is almost half the national budget of sh3 trillion.“The Treasury CS presented national budget estimates that have made the burden on Wanjiku heavier. The national debt burden has risen unsustainably to sh5 trillion which is nearly double the annual budget,” he said. The wiper leader added that Kenyans will have to pay 0.12 times more the normal rates for transactions such us sending and withdrawing money. He also condemned the increase in the prices of petroleum products. “The 12 percent surprise increase on the excise duty on mobile money transactions, the increase of excise duty on Kerosene, general increase in the price of petroleum products are all adversely affecting the livelihoods of ordinary Kenyans,” added Kalonzo. He made the remarks during the opening of Wiper Party offices in Nairobi.
