Wiper party leaders have given NASA 7 days to name Kalonzo Musyoka as the coalition’s presidential flag bearer or they walk away from Raila Odinga and other co-principals. The Wiper officials, led by National Assembly minority leader Francis Nyenze, on Wednesday said should the Opposition coalition fail to name the former vice president as the presidential candidate, NASA will no longer exist. “If Kalonzo is not going to be the presidential candidate, NASA will not exist anymore,” Mr Nyenze told journalists at parliament buildings, as quoted by the Nation. Kalonzo’s men wants ODM leader Raila Odinga to honor signed before the 2013 general election, which said that Mr Odinga would be the presidential candidate in 2013 and the Wiper boss in 2017. They have threatened to go it alone through the NASA coalition name Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi or Moses Wetangula as the presidential candidate. “The Kambas have reached an edge and if it is not Kalonzo, Wiper will go it alone. We'll not play second fiddle to anybody,” said Nyenze, as per a Nation report. It remains to be seen whether the NASA principals remain together even after announcing a challenger to face president Uhuru Kenyatta in this year’s presidential election.
