Mutambo argues that Uhuru-Raila Friday meeting provides an opportunity for Kalonzo to negotiate afresh  for his 2022 bid.

Speaking to journalists  in Mwingi town on Sunday,  the former Wiper MP said the fact that President Kenyatta accepted to meet and dialogue with Raila Odinga is a clear indication that he has an open mind on who he could support in 2022.

Mutambo   asked Kalonzo  and other NASA principals to stop lamenting and get down on the table to strategize for 2022.

“Opportunities like this comes once in a life time and Kalonzo should  take advantage of it and start bargaining for 2022,” he said as quoted by a local daily.

Mutambo stated that the former Vice President will be among the few experienced politicians who will be battling out in 2022 if Raila will not be on the ballot.

He added that President Kenyatta and Odinga might decide to endorse Kalonzo in  2022.

“Politics is about surprises and on this our colleagues Kalonzo, Mudavadi and Wetangula should not feel betrayed by Raila’s meeting with Uhuru,” he added.

Mutambo hailed the Friday meeting, saying its what the country needed to move forward.

The Friday surprise meeting continues to draw reactions with majority politicians and Kenyans lauding it.

However, the meeting has created controversy in NASA coalition with political analysts arguing that it was the last nail on NASA coalition coffin.

Political pundits argues that NASA will not be united again and that affiliate parties are likely to pull out.

On  Saturday, Amani National Congress (ANC)  party leader Musalia Mudavadi maintained that they were not privy to the meeting adding that Raila did not represent  the interest of NASA  when he met Uhuru.
