A Wiper party parliamentary aspirant has revealed why Kalonzo Musyoka was not named the National Super Alliance presidential candidate.
Rashid Odhiambo, who is eyeing the Malindi parliamentary seat says the Wiper leader was not handed the ticket because of ODM’s strength in Parliament over Wiper.
Orange Democratic Movement leader Raila Odinga was on April 27 unveiled as the opposition’s presidential candidate and Kalonzo his running mate.
Odhiambo made the remarks while addressing party members in Malindi on Sunday.
The aspirant explained that ODM had more elected legislators that Wiper; therefore their candidate had to fly NASA’s flag come August 8.
“Our party leader lost on the ticket because he lacked enough soldiers to raise his stake compared to Raila who has more than 90 MPs and a host of senators,” he said, as quoted by Citizen Digital.
A section Ukambani leaders led by Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze had rejected the naming of Raila as Nasa flag bearer.
They said Kalonzo was short changed by being named the former prime minister’s running mate.
