Led by Kamba clans governing council of elders Chairman Boniface Syengo and James Ngului from the Office of the President said that Kalonzo’s presidential dream is as good as dead after he agreed to back Cord Leader Raila Amolo Odinga, also former prime minister to contest for Presidency.
The leaders said that President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have good plans for the community.
"Unfortunately Kalonzo will be irrelevant in 2022 since there will be young people seeking the same seat. Uhuru's plan is to leave Kambas in a better place politically. He is not after our votes since we did not vote for him in 2013 and yet he won. He has done a lot of development projects in Ukambani," said Ngului, as quoted by Star.
Kalonzo has continued to receive criticisms from different Ukambani leaders for shelving his presidential dream in favor of Raila. Earlier on, National Assembly Minority Leader Francis Nyenze had caused a stir in the region when he argued that the Kamba community had been given a raw deal by the National Super Alliance (NASA).
