Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will be one of the greatest competitors of William Ruto come 2022. The Wiper party leader's candidature will be a threat to Dp Ruto's presidential bid despite him being out of the government.
Kalonzo Musyoka is highly experienced in the political scene compared to Jubilee's William Ruto. Kalonzo suffered political humiliation by losing his first competition in a parliamentary race in 1983. He ran fourth and victory was snatched by a greater margin by the Kitui North constituency incumbent, at that time, Mr. Manandu. However, He later won in a by-election held in 1985 after Manandu was shot dead. At this time up to 1992, Dp William Ruto was nowhere to be seen in politics.
Musyoka has also lowered himself to deputize Raila Odinga not once but twice. Although the combination failed to clinch power in the two consecutive elections, Kalonzo's part remains and Raila's supporters owe Kalonzo a considerate amount of Support. The double humiliation after losing had nothing to do with Kalonzo and it is a responsibility of Raila to give back a hand. Possibly, if Raila plays his role in endorsing Kalonzo, Kalonzo will beat Dp Ruto.Kalonzo beats Dp Ruto in terms of the number of the presidential races they have run.
Kalonzo ran for the presidency in two thousand and seven and lost taking the third position. On the other hand, Ruto has never run for the presidency since he supported KANU's Uhuru in 2002 and lost his Orange Democratic Movement to Raila in 2007. In 2013 and 2017, Ruto ran as a deputy Presidential candidate with the Jubilee ticket that gave him victory with Uhuru as President.
Evidently, the repeated run for Kalonzo Musyoka gives him an advantage over Ruto since he has experienced the competitive climate himself; compared to Ruto who has done so under the sponsorship of his boss, Uhuru Kenyatta. Experience is the best teacher.
Lastly, Kalonzo will beat Ruto because of his ability to accept a collabo, forming a nationwide coalition that is inclusive. As seen in the recent general elections, Kalonzo believes in coming together to bring change, the change needed by the voice of the people. He allowed himself to deputize Raila two times. Probably, he can join either Mudavadi, Joho, Wetangula or both. This combination will defeat Ruto.
Notably, Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is an individual whose 2022 presidential candidature cannot be underestimated. He is the man to beat Deputy President William Ruto.
