Kamba elders endorsed Sonko’s bid for the city top seat and they have promised bigger endorsements in future. The elders endorsed the former senator in September and appointed him as a Kamba elder. The group’s chairperson Boniface Kilonzo lauded his visionary leadership and promised to give Sonko an opportunity to lead the Akamba.

“As elders we have seen the future and are sure of Sonko’s good leadership. We will soon give him the mantle to lead this community,” Kilonzo said as quoted by the Star.

Sonko honored his September pledge of buying the elders a van. He gave them the 14-seater automobile on Sunday at a ceremony held at his Mua Hills home. He also promised to reward women dancers who entertained them during the function.

“I thank the elders who have walked the journey with me. I give them this 14-seater van as my appreciation and will give them another in due course,” Sonko said.
