Close to 200 Kanu branch officials drawn from Rift Valley region have threatened to withdraw their support for the reelection of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Led by Elgeyo Marakwet branch chairman Paul Kibet, the officials accused Deputy President William Ruto of undermining their party leader and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
They threatened to rally their support for NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga, should Ruto fail to stop sabotaging Moi.
“Gideon is using his resources to campaign for Uhuru in all areas, yet Ruto is still funding and openly supporting a campaign against Gideon in Baringo. We cannot take it any more,” Kibet said.
“Rift Valley is no longer a Jubilee zone as claimed by Ruto and his henchmen. They should know NASA is penetrating the region because of Ruto’s style of politics,” he added.
