Independence Party Kanu is reportedly reconsidering its support for the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta during the forthcoming general elections.
Sources indicate that the party could back Opposition coalition NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga instead.
Speaking on Saturday in Narok South, the outfit's leader and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi accused Deputy President William Ruto of disrespecting Jubilee Party's affiliate parties, revealing that he will be meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta to chart the way forward.
“We are experiencing reckless statements from the Jubilee side, which is not safe for the two sides but I am meeting the president in person to discuss the matter,’' he observed.
“It is disheartening to see elected leaders threatened to the point they cannot express their views, the Deputy President should respect other leaders,” he added.
Moi and Ruto have been embroiled in political power supremacies in an apparent bid to control the Rift Valley region politics.
The two have made it public that they will be running for president in 2022.
