While many of us tell the story of our growth we tend to speak about the people in our lives as if they are props in this movie we are starring.

So while we speak about growth and claim how we have let go of the past deep within us the truth is that we believe as we grow to be better the people who wronged us become worse. In our heads, we think Karma is sat somewhere serving them a taste of what they served you.

The harsh truth is that just as you grow the people in our lives are growing and you owe to them the same benefit of the doubt that life has granted you. Karma may never serve them that dish. They may have a turning point that is not filled with pain but love. Change doesn't necessarily have to come with the pain and regret that we sit and wait for. Just because he cheated you can’t sit around and wait for his wife to leave him or his marriage to fall apart.

You can’t sit around and wait for that rapist to contract some deadly disease that will make him remember you and what he did. You can’t leave her for her cheating ways and wait for a future where she will never find true love.

You can’t wait for her business to fall apart because she stole an idea you had. Just as you have grown they are growing and they are on their journey. True, once in a while karma may have a hand but it is nothing to rejoice about.

So while we fill our timelines with quotes such as “The person you knew yesterday is not the same person today, I grow every minute”, you must equally remember the enemy you met yesterday is not the same person you will meet in the future. People in your life are not props. They are equally on a journey as you are and what they did to you was what they thought was the best thing to do at that time. Give humanity a chance.

Forgiveness is for you, not them.
