Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has called for the nullification of the entire August 8 general elections.
Speaking on Monday shortly after filing a petition contesting the election of Anne Waiguru as Kirinyaga governor, the ex-legislator claimed that last month's polls were marred by massive electoral irregularities right from the position of the ward representative.
Karua alluded to the recent Supreme Court ruling that nullified the presidential elections and subsequently calling for a fresh one.
"The Supreme Court as a matter of law found there were irregularities in the presidential election and canceled (it). Therefore, we want this determination to apply to all other elections," Karua's lawyer Gitobu Imanyara noted.
“It was as if there were no elections at all and the lower court is not open to departing from the Supreme Court decision. The Supreme Court set a precedent and the lower court should follow suit," he added.
The former Cabinet Minister lost her bid to Waiguru after garnering 122,091 votes against Waiguru's 161,373 votes.
