But for her, she never says never and she is determined to give it yet another trial and no amount of intimidation from her male counter parts will pull her back.

However, with the Kenyan patriarchal society and traditions, her chances to win in the 2017 elections are still very narrow.

In 2013, it was clear enough that Kenyans have no faith in a woman president considering the votes that Karua garnered. It seems the iron lady's political fire is still burning after she made it public that she will be in the ballot box next year and she is not settling for any position than that of the president.

Martha Karua was in the past the Gichugu member of parliament and she also vied for the presidential seat in 2013 but she lost.

It is sad that even women do not believe in what their fellow women are capable of doing. If they did, they would have come out in large numbers to vote for Martha in 2013.

Most Kenyans today still feel that a female leader cannot deliver as much as a male leader despite the much effort of educating the girl child and empowering the female gender.

Some male leaders are also out to show the society that a woman is not capable of delivering much due to family responsibilities while at the same time claiming that unmarried women cannot be good leaders.

While Martha is ready to compete with Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, it is a bold step for her but at the same time, she risks failing once again since nothing much has changed since 2013.

It may need more time for Kenyans to appreciate that women can be leaders too in this country and make the history of having a woman president in Kenya.
