This year's KCPE results will be released earlier than has been in the past.

This is because the Kenya National Examinations Council (Knec) has bought 20 machines that will be used in marking the the 2017 exams.

While revealing the developments, Knec chairman George Magoha said that the results will now be released a week earlier than was the case in 2016.

He said the Optical mark recognition (OMR) machines were bought at Sh100 million and will enable the exam body to work on the papers faster.

Magoha was speaking in Nyamira after visiting Nyamira and Egesieri primary schools.
