The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) Board of Directors and a team of Senior Management on Thursday inspected the Mai Mahiu - Suswa - Narok Road section at Karima.
Led by the Director of Road Asset and Corridor Management Eng Njuguna Gatitu, the team toured the area following a volcanic fault line on March 13.
The Authority has assigned a team of engineers in the area to monitor any developments that may occur as a result of the isostatic adjustment of the volcanic area, which is attributed to the fault line.
The team will divert traffic on alternative diversions identified in case the fault line recurs.
Gatitu said KeNHA is in the process of mapping the area to identify alternative routes where the road will be relocated, to avoid future occurrences as experienced in the past two weeks.
