Both President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga are 'unfit' for the presidency, the former presidential candidate has said.

Speaking during Sidebar Show on NTV on Wednesday night, Mohammed Abduba Dida said Kenyans are in a precarious situation as it is becoming clear that either of the two leaders will lead the nation after October 26 repeat election.

"Both President Uhuru and Raila Odinga are unqualified to occupy the country's highest office. I can tell without any doubt that Kenyans will be worse off after five years irrespective who wins next month's poll," Dida said.

"You can't expect them to bring any change now when they have failed to do so in the many years they have been in government," he added.

The August 8 presidential candidate faulted IEBC for locking out other candidates from the repeat election, saying Kenyans' right of choice shouldn't be limited by any constitutional office.

"Why should there be only two presidential candidates? It is not a rerun! The court ordered a fresh election which according to me should involve all candidates in the previous poll," he remarked.

In 2013, the Chief Justice Willy Mutunga-led Supreme Court ruled that a fresh election should only be between the petitioner and the announced winner.
