Lawyer Makau Mutua says Kenya is likely to face a constitutional crisis in November which will lead to a transitional government.
With only forty days to elections, IEBC has found itself in a limbo as internal and external differences continue to escalate.
And in his tweet, Mutua says the commission has no credibility to hold elections within sixty days due to internal wrangles.
“A constitutional crisis in Kenya. IEBC have no capacity or will to hold elections within sixty days a reason why we shall have a transitional government,” he says.
“It has fallen apart now that Ezra Chiloba and Wafula Chebukati are confirming that elections were stolen. This vindicates Raila Odinga and he can now call for overhaul.”
Although NASA has not openly called for resignation of Chebukati, they have insisted that they will not go to elections with Chiloba as CEO.
In case the commission fails to hold elections within the constitutional timelines, Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi will head a transitional government.
