After the inauguration of President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani, the focus is slowly shifting to 2022 politics.

Gideon Moi’s role at the ceremony continues to raise eyebrows; with many saying individuals are strategically placing themselves for the big battle in 2022.

Moi was pictured receiving heads of state who attended the ceremony, with many questions the criteria used to settle on Moi as the one to welcome the high-level delegation.

However, KANU Secretary General Nick Salat has dismissed the importance of Moi’s actions during the event, choosing to look at it from a different point.

“It is not the first time that he has received foreign dignitaries, it depends on the guests, whom they prefer and I believe they pick who receives them,” said Nick Salat as quoted by KTN.

Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto are arguably the most active and vibrant of retired president Daniel Moi’ political students from 1990s, rising to political peak in local politics.

Their relationship can be described as childhood friends, and always came to the fore in their relationship and how the worked in their first term in office.

With President Kenyatta finishing his term, the battle will now be taken over by Ruto, who will be keen on ascending to power in the next elections.

However, many close to President Kenyatta will be cautious not to dwell or even allow the 2022 talk to the surface, as it might jeopardize the working relationship that the two, President and his deputy have enjoyed over the years.
