The High Court on Thursday nullified the August election victory of Alfred Keter as Nandi Hills Mp and called for a fresh election.
In his ruling, Justice George Kimondo cited that the petitioner Bernard Kitur provided enough evidence warranting the nullification of the election.
In the past couple of weeks, Keter has had to endure major disappointments in his political and personal life.
The former legislator was in January 23 voted out as the Parliament's Labour Committee chair by his Jubilee party counterparts on grounds that 'regional balance' was not considered before his election.
On February 16, Keter was in the news again after he and two others were arrested at the Central Bank of Kenya for allegedly presenting fake Treasury Bills worth Kshs 633 million.
However, the outspoken Keter may surprise many and win the forthcoming by-election with a big margin.
The tribulations he has had to endure in 2018 so far will give his supporters a perception that he (Keter) is being targeted by his own party and so come out in large number and vote for him.
Similarly, the people of Nandi Hills may feel that one of their own is being 'harassed' and so vote for Keter overwhelmingly in a bid to send a message of solidarity with Keter.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has been instructed to prepare and conduct a fresh election and Keter will go all out to ensure he reclaims his seat thereby disapproving those who believe his political career has been dented by the numerous challenges he has had to put up with in the recent past.
