Waititu on Friday took to social media to announce that construction of a section of road between THIWASCO head offices and Blue Posts Hotel had been completed and give it a new name.

"Officially launching Waititu Babayao road in Thika town," he posted, adding that traffic jam menace that has been a pain in the back for Thika residents for ages would be a thing of the past.

The 100 meters stretch joins Haile Selassie Road exit near the Blue Post bridge and Thika-Kenol dual carriage road.

The 'launch', however, angered some residents who accused Waititu of abandoning many roads in the populous county.

Here are some of the reactions from locals, as posted on Facebook.

Njuguna David - "Did you have to call it your name?"

Joe Macharia - "So all roads will be renamed babayao Waititu as if it is your personal money? That is nonsense. Kibaki with all he did in Kenya hakuna Kibaki road but we remember him."

John Mwangi - "Funny poor road on top of clay soil."

Mundu wa Kanyiriri - "That stretch is too small to be called a Waititu Road. Mwenda Wa Kihara...What if Kibaki gave all the roads he built his name? Yours is barely 83 meters na inaonekana hatutaongea. You saved the day but tulia."

Jane Njuguna - "Kiambu is sleeping.'

John Muhoho - "Did you build with your own money??? Asking for villagers."

Kelvin Wanjiru - "Nowadays we launch roads and name them after ourselves?? Isorait."
