A section of Kiambu women have come out to commend Governor Ferdinand Waititu for his efforts to fight against second generation liquor, illicit brews and unlicensed bars.
Speaking on Sunday, during the Kiambu Women Empowerment Caucus meeting held in Githunguri, the women showered praises to Waititu noting that his fight against alcoholism in the county was bearing fruits and that their husbands and children were reforming.
"I really thank Governor Waititu for his fight against alcoholism, my husband nowadays stays at home although he is having difficulties with withdrawal symptoms," said Mary Wairimu.
Jackline Njambi said, "I just want the governor to keep pressing on with his fight. Am seeing changes as one bar near my school is currently closed. The loud noise in the neighbourhood is gone and my children can now study in peace."
Stella Mugechi said that her son used to come back late, drunk and violent, but now he has reduced his drinking and that she is hoping he will stop completely.
"I have been having difficulties meeting my house needs and children fees as my husband spends all his money drinking. Since the campaign by Governor Waititu on illicit brew, i was surprised when my daughter told me he paid her school fees. I pray that he continues in that direction," Muthoni Chege another woman stated.
