Governor Evans Kidero recapturing his gubernatorial seat is a foregone conclusion.

It is evident by the fact that no Cord politician has dared show his or her interest in the seat, probably aware of both the financial war chest and political clout that Kidero wields.

Kidero is no push-over and the fact that he is damn wealthy with a net worth that runs into millions is no secret even to casual observers.

Conservative estimates put his wealth into billions of interns of liquid cash and fixed assets.Kidero has held plum positions in major multinationals and blue chip companies like Smith Kline Beecham, Nation Media Group, Mumias Sugar Company among many other top-notch companies, besides he has a major imprint in the real industry.

During the 2013 gubernatorial election campaigns, Kidero who had been hitherto underrated and his candidature taken with a pinch of salt unleashed a campaign machinery that confounded both friend and foe. His campaign was rumored to have rivaled that of key presidential campaigners;Cord's Raila Odinga and Jubilee's Uhuru Kenyatta in terms of mobilization, financial spending, and sophistication.

His chief rival at that time who is the current Kabete MP, Ferdinand Waititu, was no match for Kidero in spite of the fact that he was being financed by the equally financially endowed Jubilee presidential aspirant at the time Uhuru Kenyatta.

Cognizant of Kidero's might, Waititu has been forced to relocate to Kiambu where he will square it out with Kiambu incumbent William Kabogo for the governor's seat.

All those who have shown interest for the Nairobi gubernatorial seat include  Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko,TNA chairman John Sakaja,Dagoreti South's Dennis Waweru, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru and the latest  entrant is Water Cabinet Secretary, Eugene Wamalwa .All these aspirants pale in comparison to Kidero.

This time round, I can bet my last coin that Kidero will even employ more resources both financially and in political mobilisation coupled with the extensive grassroots political network that he has built in the city during his tenure has Nairobi governor and he will not take this race lying down.

No lesser a person than the deputy president William Ruto has repeatedly declared that Jubilee will do whatever it takes to recapture the seat from Kidero, but it will not be a walk for the ruling party's side.

My take is that Kidero will easily recapture his seat, more due to the numerous wrangles within Jubilee.

A recent poll by research firm; Trends and Insights for Africa (Tifa) which firmly puts the governor at a 38 percent approval rating compared to Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko's 30 per cent.

This is remarkable since it Kidero's popularity had risen by eight percent and Sonko's popularity had stagnated at 28 percent according to an April ranking by the same firm.Kidero has vowed that he is the best bet for the city, and he has declared that he does not fear anyone.Watch this space.
