Nairobi Governor Dr Evans Kidero is not ready to leave any stone unturned ahead of the forthcoming general polls.

The governor, who will be defending his seat in August after being issued a direct ticket, has said that residents visiting markets in a Nairobi will no longer pay parking fees.

The lawmaker’s move is meant to woo small scale traders, who have continued to experience a number of challenges in the course of running their business including competition from large scale traders.

The governor, who will be locking horns with Senator Mike Sonko, said that the move will attract resident to shop at the markets thus promoting small scale traders in different areas of the city.

“We want our small traders to grow and we can only do that when people buy their wares. We want the middle class to come and shop here, not just relying on supermarkets,” Kidero said at Kenyatta Market on Wednesday, as quoted by Star.

The county also exuded confidence that he will retain his seat in the forthcoming general election. Former Raila’s ally Miguna Miguna and Former Gatanga Member of Parliament Peter Kenneth has already expressed interest interest in the seat.
