Nakuru Governor Kinuthia Mbugua’s loss in the Jubilee nominations has been attributed to the choice of his running mate.

According to the governor’s political adviser, his insistence to keep his deputy Joseph Ruto against the people’s choice may have caused him to lose the Jubilee ticket.

“The deputy governor was a big liability as he had lost popularity,” said the adviser, Ezekiel Kesendany.

Governor Mbugua lost the Jubilee ticket by garnering 150,137 votes against former NTSA chairman Lee Kinyanjui’s 216,385.
