No doubt about that but information is only given to people in power-elites and people who do not know the power they have, the middle-class. It still puzzles that daily tabloid are freely available to the population in developed countries. The sight of homeless people reading the papers is perhaps one of the most powerful images to get experience every day.
These papers are strategically placed at bus stops right next to the ticket machine or behind the driver’s seat. Back home the newspaper cost approximately 60kshs. While a large number of the population still lives under a dollar a day but a majority of you have newspapers piled up at home waiting for "mama gazette" to come collected them for a small fee and recycle the paper. The funny thing is and can bet you money that woman probably never takes the time to read that paper.
Information still gets to the poor but it is information that is revised and altered with propaganda and prejudice. Many have never struggled to find out what is happening in the international scene. Someone somewhere in the system has been hired to do press briefs and make it available to our email address complete with links to the source of the story.
To the middle-class, we have the information but we only use it for aesthetic purposes. To stroke our egos and sound smart in debates we enjoy a drink, to make people think you are smart, to impress that person you are trying to be with. We speak of politicians who misuse power but we are equally misusing the greatest power made available to us. We wait for bloggers to filter information with their opinion and spend hours exchanging and insulting each other of matters that do not matter. The middle class is perhaps the most brainwashed population of the global class strata. We dwell in the mentality that one day it will be our turn to lead. Comfortable with the status quo as we go on with our mundane lives.
If your knowledge does not benefit another it is useless and pointless that you know.
