The Kenya Ports Authority is celebrating a set of two new record performances in container handling operations at the Port of Mombasa.

First, there's a new record of an average of 82 gross moves per hour by Container Carrier MV Kota Lambai while docked at berth no. 17 on Saturday. 

The record performance surpasses that of 65 gross moves per hour registered by Container Carrier MV Clemens Schulte in August 2015.

The MV Kota Lambai operated by the Pacific Lines (PIL) recorded 3,465 gross moves in 42.34 hours having registered her first and last slings on Saturday at 0820 hours and Sunday 0600 hours respectively.

Flying the Singaporean flag, the vessel sailed out on Sunday morning after cumulatively discharging 1,446 full containers and loading another 1,436 empty and 8 full containers.

Another new best shift performance was set on Sunday by Container Carrier MV. Ever Dynamic by recording 1,117 gross moves at an average of 159 moves per hour. 

The record surpasses the last one of 1039 gross moves in eight hours at an average of 129 moves per hour set by another Container Ship MV. Karmen in October 2015.Acting KPA Managing Director Dr. Arch. 

Daniel Manduku hailed the splendid performance which he attributed to the Authority's progressive efforts to ensure efficiency, allocation of optimum equipment and inspired human resource.
