Before President Uhuru Kenyatta named part of his Cabinet to steer his second term, political analyst and lawyer Donald Kipkorir had predicted that three Cabinet Secretaries would not survive the president's chop.
Among them were Tourism CS Najib Balala and his Education/Interior counterpart Fred Matiangi who ended up being named by the president on Friday.
Matiang'i was transferred from the Education docket that he has held since his appointment to the Interior docket where he has been on an interim basis after the death of former minister Joseph Nkaissery.
According to lawyer Kipkorir, Matiang'i was supposed to be dropped because of an alleged inefficiency that he hides by pleasing the powers that be.
"I see a Court Jester who wants to please the powers be. What is there to celebrate him if under his watch, every year 500,000 12-year-olds finish their education in STD 8 and each year 500,000 17-year-olds end their education in Form IV?" he wrote.
He accused Matiang'i of making children look like failures through unfair exams and added that the CS had also failed as an Interior boss.
"Then whilst acting in the Ministry of Interior, more innocent Kenyans were killed than any time in our history. Even children were not spared. Only a dystopian state can celebrate such a minister. One cannot be praised on the backs of children whose dreams have been killed or the blood of innocent Kenyans. If the President wants a Kisii to appoint, we have Charles Nyachae and Dr Bitange Ndemo who are genuine and loyal patriots," he added.
Over Balala, the analyst said his tenure at the Tourism docket has been an abject failure.
"The Ministry has been concerned with attending all Tourism Exhibitions abroad and entering all manners of contests to be awarded “Best Beach”, “Best Game Reserve”, “Best Destination” But all meaningless ... Our tourist visitors have never reached 1.5m since independence," he said.
"He can Chair Jubilee and Raphael Tuju can go to the Cabinet. Mohammed Hersi can be Minister for Tourism," he added.
However, the lawyer has been proven wrong after President Kenyatta reappointed the two back to his government.
