Human Rights Africa, a lobby group, has moved to court seeking to block NASA co-principal Raila Odinga from vying for presidency.

The groups claims the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader lacks integrity.

On Wednesday, Human Rights Africa filed the case at the High Court, claiming that Raila’s character was tainted and thus he should not be allowed to run for the top seat come August 8.

Raila is among opposition leaders seeking to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the upcoming polls.

The lobby group claims that the former Prime Minister was involved in several scandals including The Triton Oil scandal, kazi kwa vijana project, the maize scam, Kisumu molasses plant scandal and the most recent allagenations by an an American who operated Dominion Farm in Yala swamp, Siaya County.

“It is in public knowledge that investigations in the above mentioned scandals have never been concluded, and even if concluded, the reports have never been made public or acted upon,” reads part of the petition by the group through their lawyer Robert Onyango.

The group also claims that Raila lacks the required education credentials to vie for President.

The suit reads that Raila declared that he holds a master’s in Mechanical Engineering from a German University, he allegedly has only produced a certificate of education from Herder Institute, Leipzig, in Germany indicating his competence in Germany.

The lobby group says Herder Institute did not have a university status at the time Raila was studying there, hence could not offer the degree course the ODM leader says he has.
