Deputy President William Ruto's 2022 presidency is almost guaranteed, but he will have to wait and confirm it when the time comes.
The leader who declared his interest in succeeding President Uhuru Kenyatta after his retirement, has since embarked on campaigns to boost his bid and is apparently succeeding, judging by recent support pledges from leaders from the Coastal region.
Also enjoying government resources which will smoothen his preparations and campaigns, the Luo Nyanza region which has for the longest time been associated with the opposition must join Ruto's ship to enjoy government privileges after 2022.
This will also enable the region be on the winning side, should Ruto's apparent pending victory materialize.
Supporting Ruto will save the region which has for long been considered a perennial opposer of presidential vote results from another round of mockery.
Currently largely behind opposition leader Raila Odinga who has repeatedly disappointed in his many futile presidential attempts, the region needs a new solution and will be in a better position to court the Kalenjin community's support should one of its own vie in the future, after backing Ruto in 2022.
Just like the current scenario where Ruto is almost assured of President Uhuru Kenyatta's support as a result of his (Ruto) backing of the President in his past bids, Nyanza's candidate in the future will also be in a position to demand for support from the DP's quarter's in the coming days after supporting him.
