Lawyer Moseti Moseti says new senate speaker Kenneth Lusaka will severely dent the image of the Upper House in the next five years.
Lusaka, who served as Bungoma governor was backed the Majority Jubilee party and trounced his closest competitor Farah Maalim.
And Moseti says Lusaka’s open political inclination and his past record of disowning senator summons would severely affect devolution.
“Lusaka is on record for various acts of demeaning the image of the senate. He is not the most suitable person to be senate speaker and that was a blunder,” he says.
Moseti adds: “His record in Bungoma is on record and that is why perhaps he was sent home. He is also too much inclined to Jubilee administration.”
Prior to speaker’s elections, Siaya Senator James Orengo raised integrity issues regarding Lusaka’s candidature but was prevailed upon.
Lusaka scored 42 votes out of the possible 67 to be elected the second speaker of Senate and will be replacing Ekwe Ethuro.
