Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirants’ campaigns might be affected, after the IEBC said it may suspend campaigns in Eldoret town.
This comes after five people were injured in clashes on Friday night in Eldoret.
Supporters of Uasin Gishu governor candidates Jackson Mandago (Jubilee) and Bundotich Buzeki (independent) clashed near Silverline Hotel, resulting to the injuring of the said persons.
The two candidates however denied claims that their campaign teams pallned the incidents, with the hotel distancing itslesf as well.
"Those youths who have been throwing stones at us because they support Mandago should instead come and listen to me and hear my policies," Buzeki said on Friday.
County returning officer Winston Nyonje warned both Buzeki and Mandago that they may be barred from the August 8 polls if found to be engaging in violence.
“We will consider stopping all campaigns for the two in Eldoret town and we are already investigating the incident for possible action,” Nyonje said on Saturday.
The county will experience a titanic battle when the two come face to face in the August polls, where each will be gunning to win more votes of the 450,000 available across the county.
An opinion Poll last week gave Buzeki a 54.2 per cent lead against Mandago 42.2 per cent, a result Mandago has rubbished.
