Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has raised concerns over contractors from the lending states who follow up on the funds and influence the awarding of tenders.
This the Governor said leaves the country with only the project but nothing to spur economy in terms of liquidity and money circulation.
Speaking during the urban development and housing session in the ongoing devolution conference in Kakamega, Mandago further termed land grabbers and cartels as the stumbling block to the urban development.
Abdu Muwonge, the senior Urban Specialist at the World Bank revealed that Uasin Gishu county will be accessing Sh800 million annually in the next five years to assist in urban development naturing support.
The objective of the Urban Support Program Project is to establish and strengthen urban institutions to deliver improved infrastructure and services in participating counties in Kenya.
"We are going to work closely with counties to make sure the urban development is achieved," said Mugowe.
On his part, Principle Secretary for Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Huga Mwaura said "we have an ambitious development framework for example in the plan 30 percent of 100units should be affordable.
"Politics should be put aside if we need the urban development to be successful. Stall and shops along the road reserve should be demolished to give way for the urban development'" he added.
