Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has petitioned the national government to initiate a housing project in Eldoret town.
Mandago said the town is experiencing tremendous growth hence need for more housing units to be built.
Speaking in Turbo, the vocal Jubilee governor proposed the government built at least 5,000 housing units that will help cater to the increasing demands for houses.
Eldoret is considered one of the fastest growing towns in the country and has been tipped to be elevated into a city status.
Mandago further pledged to work with the national government in implementing several development projects for the benefit of the locals in the water, infrastructure, health among other sectors.
"We're working closely with national government to benefit from development projects," he said.
Mandago was speaking on Sunday during an inter-denominational thanksgiving prayer in Ngenyilel, Turbo sub-county which brought together 69 churches from Uasin Gishu county.
