Uasin Gishu governor Jackson Mandago has reaffirmed his county government's commitment to supporting the construction of an Industrial Park at Plateau, a few kilometres from Eldoret town.

The governor pledged to ensure he puts in place measures that will see to it that the construction continues effectively.Speaking in Eldoret, Saturday, Mandago assured investors into the multi billion project that their investments were safe in Uasin Gishu.

"We want to assure the investors that we shall ensure the safety of their investments here," noted the governor.

He asked the national government to consider tarmacking roads around the construction site as well as considering extending the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) to Eldoret.

"There is need to tarmack road linking and joining Eldoret-Nakuru Road at Cheplaskei and the Dry's-Naiberi road and passing through the economic zone," Mandago said.

"It is crucial that SGR extends from Naivasha to Eldoret as the factories will need good transport means to markets in Nairobi and to Mombasa," he added.

Speaking during the ground breaking for the Sh200 billion project, Friday, Deputy President William Ruto said the government was considering upgrading the metre gauge railway which passes closer to the Industrial Park site and has a railway station nearby.
