Kenyans have been urged to seek alternative means in the resolution of conflicts.
According to Chief Justice David Maraga, alternative conflict resolution mechanisms will ease congestion in courts and prisons.
Speaking on Sunday in Eldoret, Maraga said that such a move will give the judiciary an ample time to handle the backlog.
He acknowledged the Uasin Gishu county government for setting aside land that will be used to construct a Magistrate’s Court.
“I’m happy to confirm that Uasin Gishu County has set aside a two-acre piece of land in Moiben to be used for the construction of a Resident Magistrate’s Court to save residents the cost of travelling all the way to town to get judicial services,” CJ Maraga said.
