Details have emerged why AFC Leopards head coach Robert Matano was missing on the touchline when his boys tackled relegated side Muhoroni Youth in the season's final match.

Matano did not attend the match played at Mumias Sports Complex on Saturday because he had crossed over to Uganda to spot talent as Ingwe starts preparations for the 2018 season.

The tactician attended the match between Soana FC and KCCA and was observing the club's targets in the match.

On-loan Leopards man Allan Kateregga scored for KCCA in the game.

"The coach is in Uganda to watch three players we are keen on signing, two are from Soana and one is from KCCA," said club chairman Dan Mule.

"I cannot give their identities at the moment because we've not even started negotiations but we thought it's important for the coach to watch them before we make any move," Mule added.

The chairman said they are working round the clock to complete their deals so that the team may gel well before the action-packed 2018 campaign kicks off.

"We've identified players we need to sign and we want the transfers completed early so that the coach begins preparations early with all the players he will work with in 2018," he added.
