The decision by President Uhuru Kenyatta to move Fred Matiang'i to the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government comes in the wake of tremendous reforms at the education ministry which need the presence of Matiang'i himself.
At the heart of the reforms is the implementation of the new curriculum and the textbooks issuance programme that has just been launched both of which have faced criticism from the civil societies.
Not long ago did he encroach the driving schools to wipe out the mess that has caused incompetence by drivers, reform university councils besides promising to introduce Kenya National Education Management Information System which will serve to weed out fake academic qualifications.
We understand that he has always been the president's 'Mr-Fix-It-All' all the way since he landed a ministerial job in 2013 till now.
However, the Education ministry is a sensitive one that defines a lot about the progress of a nation economically and socially.
Currently, a lot of reforms have just been initiated and need unwavering support to completion.
Matiang'i should have been left to complete these essential programmes.
