A court ruling by Justice George Odunga that convicted Matiang'i of contempt of court rendered him a fugitive of the law.

Lawyer Edwin Sifuna now says any Kenyan can  move to court under chapter six of the constitution and challenge for his removal.

"Matiang'i is now a fugitive of the law thus cannot hold any state or public office. He is a convict from today forthwith," he said, adding that the judgment can only be appealed.

He further said: "For now, he is unfit to hold any public office and anyone can move to court to seek for his removal."

Justice Odunga accused Matiang'i of disobeying court orders and ordered him to appear in court on Thursday for sentencing.

For the second month in a row, Kenyans have accused the interior ministry of mistreating lawyer Miguna Miguna, who has since been deported for the second time.
