Although Twitter was under fire on Monday with users demanding the immediate release of former Nairobi governor aspirant Miguna Miguna, a section of Kenyans have also expressed a dissenting opinion.
They took to Twitter and Facebook supporting the government in its decision to detain Miguna and said there was justification from police.
"Anyone who still thinks that MAGUNIA MAGUNIA will be released soon is an idiot. The idiot should rot in jail. As far as there is freedom of speech, MAGUNIA misuses it. It's time he realised that kenya has a sitting government, not a banana republic. #FreeMigunaMigunaNow," said Captain Machukah.
Others make comparisons of Miguna Miguna being in contempt of Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and said that the issue of detention was self-inflicted.
"MIGUNA: My name is Miguna Miguna, I am the general of the NRM. I wanted to clarify that just so Matiang'i knows. I want to tell Matiang'i to stop arresting small people and foot soldiers and come arrest me the General! MATIANG'I: "Sawa sawa Boss yangu," wrote Polycarp Hinga.
"Dear Narasarites, Asthma could be a very deadly NIS propaganda to justify death should a lifeless body be found lying in some poorly ventilated room in the Central Kenya Region. If you're not sure, desist from spreading it~ RNM spokesman #FreeMigunaMigunaNow," wrote Ike Kenneth.
"Let Miguna rot in cell, He dared the illegitimate despotic regime to arrest him. They did as he instructed.#FreeMigunaMigunaNow," Siad Kelvin Njoki.
