Former Nairobi governor aspirant Miguna Miguna wants Kenyans to forgive President Uhuru Kenyatta for an interesting mistake the head of state made lately.
Through his Twitter page, President Kenyatta wrote that he had visited ailing political figure Kenneth Matiba, but oops he misspelled one word thus sending a section of netizens into a moment of criticism and wild talk, a rare moment that pulled the interest of Miguna Miguna.
In his Tweet; President tweeted: “Visited my friend Kenneth Matiba, former Minister, who is convalescencing at a Nairobi hospital”.
Linguistic master Willice Ochieng (@WilliceOchieng1) sought to correct the President replying; “the right word is CONVALESCING (from the verb CONVALESCE-to recuperate).”
Ochieng exonerated President Kenyatta from the fault.
“It could be a typo or a mistaken spelling/word. To err is human,” he said.
But Miguna Miguna could not keep his cool.
He replied: “Hahaha! @WilliceOchieng1, the despots has hired dozens of functionally illiterate hackers to manage his @Twitter account.”
This was an attempt to explain why the President’s Twitter page could contain spelling flops.
He went on; “Forgive him. But we are not going to forgive him for stealing elections and murdering innocent civilians. Viva!”
It’s apparent that the author of the President’s tweet erred in spelling the word convalescing originates from convalesce which simply means to recover one’s health and strength over a period of time after an illness, according to the Oxford dictionary.
Unfortunately, the absence of the edit button on Twitter retained the grammar stain in the tweet.
