Residents of Mitaboni in Kathiani sub-county of Machakos county have appealed to the Kenya Power Machakos branch to change their supply of power.
The area which has been receiving power from Machakos sub station want it changed to Nguluni substation in Matungulu sub-county.
This is in what the locals say will help solve frequent blackouts experienced in the area.
Led by their Member of County Assembly Fredrick Mbuva Muthoka, the residents complained that frequent blackouts have been affecting their businesses.
In a phone interview, Muthoka lamented that traders in the area have been incurring heavy losses as there is no notice to power the frequent blackouts.
"We have been experiencing frequent blackouts without notice, traders have incurred losses, other businesses like barber shops have been crippled as they rely solely on power," lamented Muthoka.
"The Kenya Power company should change our power supply to Nguluni substation which is bigger, closer and convenient," he added.
The MCA said that despite the blackouts, surprisingly, they have been served with high bills.H e urged the Kenya Power company to consider their plea and save them from the blackouts.
