KTN journalist Mohamed Ali is among the aspirants who have declared interest in the race to succeed Nyali MP Hezron Awiti in August.
However, Moha Jicho Pevu, as he is popularly known, will not have an easy time, as a tough challenge awaits him.
The Nyali parliamentary race has attracted wealthy, mighty and visionary leaders.
None of the aspirants who have declared interest in the seat is a push over.
Although Moha enjoys a cordial relationship with Cord principal Raila Odinga and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, he will have to go an extra mile to clinch the seat.
Even though reports indicate some elders in the area have backed him for the seat, he is not guaranteed victory.
Among the strongest competitors Moha is set to lock horns with are Said Saleem and John Mcharo.
A section of Nyali residents have assured Saleem, who is Joho’s close relative, of their support.
On the other hand, Mcharo is also a fierce competitor as he is the former Mombasa deputy mayor and enjoys massive support in Freetown.
This clearly indicates that he has influence in Nyali and putting him down will be a tough task.
