Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho is among the Governors who will not be defending his seat in the next polls.

Joho's exit leaves the door wide open for interested parties to battle it out for the coastal city's top seat.

Although Mvita MP Abdulswamad Nassir, former Senator Hassan Omar, and politician Suleiman Shahbal have been noted to be the main contenders in the race, Nyali MP Mohammed Ali should not be underestimated.

The former journalist who joined politics in 2017 went against the wave and won the Nyali set as an independent candidate.

His love for the people, his zeal in fighting for the rights of the electorate and his ope door policy that allows residents to walk into his office at anytime, has endeared him to his constituents and Kenyans at large.

Since he was elected Nyali MP, Ali has been up and down in a bid to ensure that the lives of his constituents and those of Kenyans as a whole are improved.

Despite being young in politics, Moha Jicha pevu as he is commonly referred has nice policies which have made a darling of the coastal residents.

His young age has also given him popularity among the youth who make up the biggest number of registered voters in the county. This is a plus for him since he will require minimal time and resources to campaign among the youth.

If the former investigative journalist keeps up with the same spirit, he surely will give the seasoned politicians a run for their money should he decide to go for the top seat in 2022.
