The County Government of Mombasa on Wednesday issued a 48-hour notice to all businessmen in the city to ensure security lights outside their shops are functional.
Through the Department of Lands, Housing and Planning, the County Government said the move aims to enhance security of the city and business owners especially at night.
The Department which is led by Edward Nyale, also warned that businessmen who will defy the order risks legal action, including a two-year sentence or a fine amounting to Sh100,000.
This even as Mombasa Finance and Economic Planning County Executive Maryam Mbaruk has appealed to residents in all 30 wards to come out in large numbers and participate in the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP) 2018-2022.
In a public notice, Mbaruk invited Mombasa residents to participate in the CIDP validation on Monday, June 25th at Tonoka Social Hall.
She emphasised that it is a constitutional requirement for citizens to participate in formation of matters that affect them, include issues of finance.
