The first phase of a housing development offering 82 four-bedroom units is ready for market at Syokimau, Machakos county. The Sh800 million Amani Village is nestled on Syokimau Airport Road, a 10-minute drive from the Syokimau Gateway Mall and 15 minutes away from Syokimau Railway Station.

“We chose to develop the property in this area mainly because Syokimau is one of the fastest growing suburbs outside of Nairobi,” says Nathaniel Ndegwa, managing director, Sterling Partners, developers of the project.

Other advantages are easy to access to the airport, the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) terminal and one of the biggest shopping malls Syokimau Gateway Mall in Nairobi.

“These are all advantageous factors to the investors both developers and buyers,” he adds. On sale under the first phase are 40 units offering amenities such as a borehole, backup power generator, solar water heating, cabro-paved roads and walkways and en-suite bedrooms, among other amenities. The starting price for each is Sh11.9 million.

The main challenge has been the tarmacking of the Syokimau Airport Road by the county government. It had been gazetted but taken even much longer than expected to have it tarmacked,” says Ndegwa.

Each unit has a spacious open plan kitchen with built cabinets and work areas. The kitchen opens up to a balcony and wash area. “We are offering a spacious dining area opening up to the sitting room next to the kitchen.
