The nomination of Wafula Chebukati as the IEBC Chair has been opposed by Kajiado Central MP Elijah Memusi, reports the star.
Speaking on Tuesday during the National Assembly's special sitting, Memusi argued that Chebukati does not meet the integrity threshold and therefore cannot be trusted to deliver free, fair and credible elections slated for August 8.
"The position of the chairperson is very important," Memusi said.
"This house should not be blackmailed over the time frame of the elections. I followed the interviews keenly and if I were to score, Chebukati would come second," he observed.
"A petitioner who was not captured by the Legal committee touched on Chebukati's integrity. Everything about him is questionable," he added.
The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee earlier approved Chebukati to head the electoral body, noting that he was up to the task to replace outgoing chair Isaack Hassan.
